except和but两者都可表示“除……外不再有……”的意思，但含义上却略有差别：一般来说，but侧重指意义的几乎完整性，但是 except 则侧重指后面除去的部分。
except和but的区别是什么
替代性不同：
except可以代替but，但but并不一定都可以代替except。
如果上下文出现all，everyone，everything，nothing，no+名词，anything，nowhere， anywhere，everywhere等之类的词，并且except后出现的是名词，代词、动词不定式时，一般就可用but替代。
用法不同：
如果句中有no、all、nobody、who、where等不定代词或疑问词时，多用but；后跟宾语从句时，多用except。
